Post #2 If the Electoral College was abolished, and people directly elected the President, what should the qualification be to vote in a Presidential Election?
Post #3 What is the most dangerous question you can ask?
Just for fun Answer the following question in a post: What action would your name be if it was a verb? So if your name was Matilda and someone said “Everyone Matilda after class” what would everyone do?
Write a post from the perspective of one of the people involved in the Trail of Tears. Choose one person from the following images and let them tell their story. Start off your post telling the reader what slide and which person you are doing. Want a challenge? Write your story in the same style as this video. Going down in the perspective of Andrew Jackson, going up in the perspective of a Cherokee.
Last week was background on Andrew Jackson, this week let’s look at American during the time preceding his Presidency:
Era of Good Feelings
Monroe Doctrine
Missouri Compromise
American System (Cumberland Road, Erie Canal)
Election of 1824
Changes in Voting Rights
Election of 1828
Rise of the Democratic Party.
One group will also examine Jackson’s rise through the politics before the Election of 1828. The first day this week you will research and prepare your presentation, then we will will do a jigsaw activity with the information on the second day you have class this week.
The twist…you will be presenting your info to the other 8th grade team. You grade will be based not on your “presentation,” but on the other class’ quiz grade on the material!
Bloggish Stuff:
The post for the blogging challenge is up. I would like to slightly change the question for you. If you are comfortable, tell us what your family does to be “green.” Do you want to be more or less “green?” What is standing in the way? What would need to happen for you to be a “green” family. On Mant’s Mission Blog (dmantz7.edublogs.org/2009/03/19/what-inspires-me/) a guest blogger named Tim Holt answered an interesting question, “What inspires me?” Answer the question in a post and tag one person blogging in the challenge and for massive bonus points tag an adult blogger! Also cut and past your answer and leave it as a comment on his blog. Explain to them what they have to do in their comments or your blog. Make sure you leave a link to their blog in your post so they get a ping back.
The digital stories for African-American History Month should all be up by now and located HERE.

So these CMT mini periods are wreaking havoc with our digital story telling project. While some folks have finished (Check out Megs’s), It looks like we will need this week to finish. I want these done right, not rushed.

The 2009 blogging Challenge has begun! Check out the site and complete the first post. Also check out the participants page–please leave some comments on some of the schools who were not part of the 2008 Challenge. The tag for the 2009 Challenge is “challenge09.” Also make sure you link back to the site
Ready for this one…oh ya…write a post from the future. The title of the post should be the date you are writing it from.
Terry Eis recently asked a group of teachers “What does a 21st Century teacher look like to a student?” And yes, she got many answers from teachers, but none from students. Place your answer to the question in the form below and I am going to share your responses with the teachers that responded to her question.
With the snow day, having to make-up CMTs and a probably a delayed opening on Tuesday, I am guessing that there will be some major changes to everything below…we will see.
