G’day Paul,
Thanks for mentioning the new 10 week challenge starting in March this year. I hope many of your students sign up with their individual blogs. I will have to think of some more challenging activities for them to take part in.

Hi there.
I clicked on your blog only midly interested in what middle schoolers in the USA were doing and frankly I am amazed…some really good stuff here! As a teacher of 6 and 7 year olds its great to see how digital literacy can be integrated into the learning so mmmmm … easily … is not the appropriate word but alas its all I have at 10.30pm on a below zero, freezing, wintry night
I enjoyed the blog very much

Dear Mr. B’s class,

I owe you an apology for taking so long to get back to you. I asked a question that spurred much thought and discussion, right at a time when I am at my busiest during the school year- the start of a new semester.

Your responses to my question, “The quality of my life is determined by the quality of my _____?” were nothing short of amazing. I suspect many adults could not put together such well considered replies as yours.

Jim Fay, of the Love & Logic institute, says that “The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the decisions you make.”

If you think about it, nothing could be more true. What foods you decide to eat, what activities you decide to engage in, who you decide to hang around, where you decide to attend college, who you decide to marry all play a huge role in the quality of your life.

Many of you wrote ideas that point to this central idea of making good decisions. Those of you who answered “thinking” have uncovered a universal truth. You may not be able to control your circumstances, but you are always able to control the thoughts that you have about your circumstances.

Abraham Lincoln once said “A man is just about as happy as he decides to be.”

Viktor Frankl proved this by surviving the the Nazi concentration camps simply by deciding to control his thoughts and attitudes about this most terrible of circumstances.

In every story of triumph, there is a person who made a decision to control their thoughts and attitude. Congratulations to you all for thinking seriously about this question. I hope you will apply what you know to be true in your life!
