Class Stuff:
Last week was background on Andrew Jackson, this week let’s look at American during the time preceding his Presidency:
- Era of Good Feelings
- Monroe Doctrine
- Missouri Compromise
- American System (Cumberland Road, Erie Canal)
- Election of 1824
- Changes in Voting Rights
- Election of 1828
- Rise of the Democratic Party.
One group will also examine Jackson’s rise through the politics before the Election of 1828. The first day this week you will research and prepare your presentation, then we will will do a jigsaw activity with the information on the second day you have class this week.
The twist…you will be presenting your info to the other 8th grade team. You grade will be based not on your “presentation,” but on the other class’ quiz grade on the material!
Bloggish Stuff:
The post for the blogging challenge is up. I would like to slightly change the question for you. If you are comfortable, tell us what your family does to be “green.” Do you want to be more or less “green?” What is standing in the way? What would need to happen for you to be a “green” family. On Mant’s Mission Blog (dmantz7.edublogs.org/2009/03/19/what-inspires-me/) a guest blogger named Tim Holt answered an interesting question, “What inspires me?” Answer the question in a post and tag one person blogging in the challenge and for massive bonus points tag an adult blogger! Also cut and past your answer and leave it as a comment on his blog. Explain to them what they have to do in their comments or your blog. Make sure you leave a link to their blog in your post so they get a ping back.
